Cairo, Egypt — ICOGT held high-level discussions with Egypt’s Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA) to explore potential investment opportunities in phosphate mining, mineral processing, and the development of local fertilizer production facilities.
ICOGT was represented by Igor Soglayev, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board, and Mikhail Belzer, Global CFO and Head of Strategy. The Egyptian delegation was led by Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of MRMIA, and his team of industry professionals.
During the meeting, ICOGT presented its business activities, long-term strategic vision, and plans for expanding its presence in Egypt and the wider region. Building on its established trading operations, the company outlined its ambition to develop a vertically integrated business model encompassing resource extraction, processing, and downstream industrial production.
A central focus of the discussions was the potential development of an integrated phosphate value chain in Egypt. ICOGT expressed interest in evaluating opportunities that combine phosphate mining with domestic processing and fertilizer manufacturing, with the objective of creating additional value within the Egyptian economy.
We see significant potential in developing integrated projects that connect Egypt’s mineral resources with local industrial production. Our objective is to identify commercially sustainable opportunities that create long-term value for both ICOGT and the Egyptian economy.
